Men, last week we began the process of ‘unlocking’ our future by heeding the words of Paul the Apostle who personally confessed that he was, “forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.” During our prayer time many men released past disappointments, hurts, and failures. It was a powerful time of putting off the past and pressing forward toward the goal!

This week we will continue this theme by looking at how we can make every second in our lives count. Part II is about seizing your day and placing Christ first in everything you do.

Breaking Free From Pornography

Porn is everywhere today... It's impossible to pinpoint when it happened, but some time in the last couple of decades, porn went mainstream. While men used to have to buy 'dirty' magazines at a Liquor store or sneak into a seedy adult bookstore, Porn can now be easily viewed privately on your computer in the comfort of your home or essentially anywhere on your handheld Smartphone.

In the U.S. alone, the Porn use is reaching epidemic proportions. On any given week over 40 million Americans view pornography. Within the Church, statistics reveal that over 50% of Christian men are viewing pornography while 37% of pastors admit to being addicted to porn. Sadly, no one's really effectively addressing this issue.

While porn is often a 'taboo' subject within the Church, it must brought into the light so that we can gain victory over this insidious sin.

We intend to hit this issue Head-on and we believe that the Lord break the chains of this stronghold over many men's lives. We encourage you to bring a friend who may be struggling with this problem, or knows someone who does- and let's link our shields to win this battle!

Reclaiming Our MISSION -Part III

Over the last three weeks we have experiencing a major stirring in our hearts to follow the three words of Jesus... Go...Make...Disciples. Now it's time to step up and do it. It's easy to stay within the confines of the classroom setting and never really go out and do the stuff. This morning, however, we are going launch out on into the deep by focusing at the last words of Jesus on this subject:

"Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you..."
Matthew 28:20

He is asking you and me to TEACH other men His commands. Come this Tuesday and learn how YOU can do the works of Jesus in making disciples. Your destiny depends on it!

Reclaiming Our MISSION -Part II

Go…Make…Disciples. Three of the most powerful words ever spoken. And three of most misunderstood and misused commands of Jesus. What did He really mean when He uttered these three words? I’m going to go out on a limb here. Let me give you the Greek, Latin and English interpretations. Here it is.. Go…Make…Disciples. I hope that clears it up for us.

Notice that Jesus doesn’t say to make converts or to get others to say a quick prayer of confession. He commands us literally go find non-believers and take them through a process that qualifies them as true disciples of Jesus.

Men, we need to RECLAIM the true mission of the Church, and that is to make disciples of all men. Checkout this weeks teaching and learn Five Steps that Jesus used to disciple 12 men who then changed the world.

Reclaiming Our MISSION -Part I

Jesus ran a mini-church. After three years of Mission all He had to show for it was about 120 people. In the world’s eyes His Church Planting efforts were a failure. In the eyes of heaven, however, it was not about the number of disciples, it was really about the quality of His disciples. By 65 A.D. this small group of 120 had grown to 25,000 disciples and only about 150 years later in 300 A.D. this mini-church had grown to over 20 million believers!

The Mission of the Church is found in Matthew 28:18-20 where Jesus says, “Go, therefore into all the earth and …make disciples.” Jesus doesn’t ever tell us make converts. The Mission is to make disciples. If you and I take this command seriously, we could transform the entire community of Santa Barbara in ten years or less.

Men, it’s time to RECLAIM our true mission and to make disciples of all men. Join us as we continue our Destiny Series and take re-occupy the territory of men’s hearts.

Reclaiming Our Identity

Our birth certificate bears the name that is given to us by our parents at the hospital. For most of us, we grow into our names and they ultimately best describe us. We are also given names by classmates, friends, and enemies that identify our personality, attitude, and negative traits. Names like; butthead, fool, stupid, pansy, sissy, faggot, are often used on the playground to hurt, offend, and diminish a young boy’s identity.

This week we will be considering your name and how it forms your overall identity. You have a given name, and names that others have called you during your life. But, what is the name God gives you? For Jacob, who’s name meant manipulator, God renamed him Israel, which means Prince of God. How would he rename you?

As we continue our Destiny Series, we are going to reclaim our Identity and learn who we truly are in the eyes of heaven. Man-up and join us as we ask God to activate us into our true calling!
